"Change" and "PhotoReading" (2008.12.17)

Reading books has become my new amusement since I took "PHOTOREADING" seminar.

The other day, “the Chinese character of this year” was selected by the Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation. It was "変", which means "CHANGE". Yes, we experienced a lot of CHANGEs this year. The prime minister CHANGEd in the miserable situation (Yasuo Fukuda to Taro Aso). In the United States, Mr. Obama brilliantly appeared on the media and was finally elected as the next president, shouting in passion, "CHANGE has come to America!”, ”America has come so far!” The economic crisis originated from subprime loan problem damaged us BADLY and the world market has been drastically CHANGEd. And I think that this is the time for us to CHANGE the attitude toward money. The TV drama “CHANGE” starred by Takuya Kimura not only entertained us a lot but also gave us the IMPORTANT MESSAGE, “Pure spirit overcomes rotten custom.”

Personally, I also experienced several CHANGEs this year, and one of the biggest ones is the number of books I read.

At the end of July, I went all the way to Kawasaki, Kanagawa prefecture, to take two-days seminar of "PhotoReading". It cost me a lot; 100,000 yen, but it was really worth it.
To be briefly, PhotoReading is a kind of speed reading technique. It was developed more than 20 years ago in America and more than 200,000 people all over the world have studied it.
But it is not just the reading technique. It holds MUCH MORE. The seminar taught us how to utilize the great potential of our sub-conscious mind for our life. Thanks to it, I have read more than 60 books since then and I can still recall the main contents of those books. This was completely impossible before I learned PhotoReading.
The teacher of the seminar said, “PhotoReading is like the magical lamp of Aladdin.” I could not understand what he meant then, but now I understand it. Yes, it could be the magical lamp. I can use the lamp not only when I read a book, but when I take a lecture, when I write a report or when I take an examination as well. Using the technique, I can read, absorb and remember the information more effectively than before.
But if I really want to use it as a useful magical lamp, I need to keep PRACTICING it. I haven’t mastered PhotoReading yet and my reading style swings between “PhotoReading” and “Regular Reading”. So I will keep practicing. You know, "Practice Makes Perfect". In that sense, PhotoReading is similar to an exercise in sports.
PhotoReading makes me spend a lot of money, because I need to buy a lot of books. In fact, I often drop in at bookstores and buy several books at a time now. But this is my CHALLENGE to improve myself. In other words, this is my NEW GAME to use my sub-conscious mind and develop the way to the better understanding of this wonderful world.

You might be skeptical and say, “PhotoReading? Can we really do such a thing?” My answer to your question is, “Yes, we can! Reading has come so far!”
