Reunion (2017.12.31)
In November this year, a REUNION of our university was held. It was the
first time in 21 years. Of the 150 alumni, as much as 30 members got together
and we all had a precious time.
When I got the information of the reunion, I wrote LETTERS to my OLD FRIENDS
to invite them. By doing so, I was able to reach four of my old friend,
who otherwise I couldn’t contact. I was THRILLED that I could get in touch
with some of my old friends again.
The reunion was LIKE A DREAM. It was as if we all went back to our university
days. Everyone brought common topics from those days, and enjoyed chatting
with one another. Indeed, we are living in a four-dimensional world, I thought.
Naturally, most of the participants had got married and had children,
and they had admirable occupations. I was purely delighted to hear about
such great progress in their lives.
Among them, one woman was very impressive. Everyone looked enjoying the
party, but her smile was EXCEPTIONAL. Usually people tend to lose their
aura of liveliness when they get older, but she was different. It was not
only her appearance but her mind as well. Her beaming face was much more
attractive than in university days. She must have been living such a happy life with her family, I imagined as I saw her talking. I was very much encouraged just by seeing
her dazzling beauty.
After the reunion, I realized one thing. I should be glad because I could WILLINGLY participate in this party. When I was a student, I didn’t like big parties like this. I used to feel
depressed when I should communicate with a lot of people. However, after
more than 20 years, my attitude had changed. I genuinely wanted to meet
everyone. I genuinely wanted to talk with a lot of people. I even wrote
letters to my friends to invite them. And as a matter of fact, I could
really ENJOY the big party.
I think that I am living a happy life to some extent. Although I am not
married like everyone else, I am healthy, enjoy working, enjoy my spare
time and have some good friends. Participating in this party, however,
made me GREEDIER. I want to SHINE like her. And if I have another opportunity
to meet them again 10 or 20 years later, I would like to participate in
it with DAZZLING smile.
Anyway, I was able to spend a wonderful time on the day. Thank you, the
organizers of the reunion. Thank you, my classmates from Gifu Pharmaceutical
University.
